這次的活動，由東港漁民鄭春忠發起，20日上午約11時「護主權」船隊從鹽埔漁港出發，東港籍「嘉順財號」在當天晚上故障回港檢修後再出發，但因跟不上船隊，在南海作業等船隊回航，於29日晚上，與回航船隊會合。
船隊25日登島，但因「海吉利號」載有3名鳳凰電視台記者，鄭春忠為避免外界傳言爭議，讓「海吉利號」停泊在太平島港外，進太平島港停靠碼頭的只有琉球籍「達億春號」、東港籍「滿吉勝8號」和「興達港籍穩順滿66號」3艘漁船、共10名船員。
船隊受到太平島官兵熱情款待，並給了21桶的太平島淡水，這也是這個活動的目的，「帶回太平島的淡水，證明太平島是島不是礁」。
5艘漁船預定今天上午9時進港，在安檢後，預計10時舉辦記者會，登島船長們將分享心得，同時將分贈太平水給現場民眾。
國民黨主席洪秀柱將前往迎接，國民黨屏東縣黨部表示，這些漁民是台灣的真英雄，呼籲鄉親前往鹽埔漁港接船，用行動力挺這項不分藍綠的愛國行為。1050731
